It seems like only yesterday that Sony released the Cyber-shot DSC-T100. The ultra slim, point-and-shoot camera was snapped up by eager shoppers across Hong Kong.

I also purchased the 8-megapixel digital camera. In my review, I vowed to enjoy using it for a long time - or at least until the next best new thing came along. The moment to say goodbye to the T100 has arrived, with Sony's release of the Cyber-shot DSC-T200.

Smile file The T200 gives new meaning to the catch-phrase, 'Smile, you're on Candid Camera.'

The device features a brilliant smile shutter function, which automatically detects and captures a person smiling. Never again will you miss a subject's grin due to shutter lag or distractions. The function is activated by pressing the shutter while in 'smile shutter scene' mode.

Screen star Another major upgrade in the T200 is its generous 3.5-inch, touch-panel liquid crystal display, which has the controls for all the camera's settings. The T100, by comparison, comes with a three-inch screen.

At your fingertips You can also edit and enhance a captured image with the touch of a finger. The camera offers a selection of designs, frames and stamps to enhance or retouch elements of the images, which can then be recorded in a format optimised for either 4x6-inch prints or viewing on a high-definition television (using the 'photo TV HD' mode).
