The 10-and-under Hong Kong inline hockey team will be heading to Detroit in the US to compete in the FIRS World Championships and AAU Junior Olympics from July 18 to 26.
The Hong Kong Inline Hockey Association (HKCIHA) is sending a team of eight 10-year-olds, including Eisuke Ishizuka (goal) and skaters Jerry Tang (captain), Marco Chan, Jeremy Leung, Jun Ng, Linus Lo, James Yen and Edwin Chu.
'This is the second year we have taken part in the tournament. We sent a team over in 2006,' said HKCIHA age group head coach Chuck Allison.
'Three of the players are back from last year, so they will bring some experience and maturity to the team. Hopefully we can surprise them this year.'
The tournament is approved by the Federation International of Roller Sports (FIRS) and its inline hockey committee and is hosted by the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU).
It will bring together the best inline hockey teams in the world for a two-week competition that will involve the top boys and girls in various age groups.
'It is an honour to be invited back to compete again at this level,' said Allison.
