Hong Kong will host the sixth Women's Asia Cup for the first time.
The Hong Kong Hockey Association (HKHA) has been appointed by the Asian Hockey Federation to host the tournament from August 25 to September 8.
Eighteen teams from 10 countries will be taking part, making this the biggest ever Women's Asia Cup.
The 10 countries are China, Taipei, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand and last year's winner India.
'China, Japan and South Korea are all ranked in the top 10 of the International Hockey Federation World Rankings. Hong Kong spectators and overseas visitors can expect some top class hockey,' said Brenda Smith, vice-president of HKHA.
As of June 18, China and Japan were ranked fifth and sixth in the women's world rankings. Korea was at eight, while Hong Kong was ranked 26th.
'Malaysia [Hong Kong's closest rival] is ranked 24th, but they have full-time players,' Smith said.
