Elite local athletes will be demonstrating their skills at the Join the Athletics event at Ma On Shan Sports Ground tomorrow from 9am to noon.
Coaches and athletes from the Hong Kong Athletic Team (HKAT) will demonstrate various sports, including hurdles, javelin, sprint and relay. They will also share their experiences of training and overseas competitions with local teens.
The aim of the event is to promote athletics to young people, and help the development of athletics in schools in the Sha Tin District.
The event is organised by the Hong Kong Amateur Athletic Association (HKAAA), the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) and the Sha Tin District Council.
It takes place ahead of the Hong Kong Inter-City Athletics Championships to be held over the weekend.
The activity will be led by famous local coaches and athletes, including top sprinter and men's 100m record holder Tang Yik-chun, who recently returned from the US in preparation for this weekend's event.
The current Hong Kong men's 110m hurdle record holder, Tang Hon-sing, will also be present.
