Eight well-known players from Europe and Asia will battle for honours at the Euro-Asia Snooker Master Challenge 2007 next month.
The tournament will be held in Hong Kong from July 12-15. The players - four each from Europe and Asia - will compete in three events - the Euro-Asia Team Challenge, Euro-Asia Master Challenge and Euro-Asia vs Hong Kong Team Challenge.
The European contestants include John Higgins (world number one), Ken Doherty (number four), Ronnie O'Sullivan (number five) and Stephen Hendry (number eight). All of them have won the World Championship at least once.
They will play at the Queen Elizabeth Stadium on the opening day against their continental counterparts in a single-frame, best-of-nine competition to decide the winner of the first-ever Euro-Asia Team Challenge.
China's Ding Junhui (world number nine) will join Thai snooker icon James Wattana (number 33) and his compatriot, 2007 Asian champion Supoj Saenla, and Hong Kong favourite Marco Fu Ka-chun (number 27) to form the Asia squad.
The Master Challenge will be held from July 13-15. It will offer total prize money of HK$680,000, with the champion taking home HK$400,000.
The eight players will be divided into two groups, where they will play best-of-three frame matches under a round-robin format.
