The squad competed with teams from India, Indonesia, Thailand and Singapore to secure a spot in the world final of the under-15 tournament, which was held on June 1 and 2.

The team, which defeated Yau Tsim Mong 4-0 in the local final in April, travelled to Singapore intent on winning the tournament. They won the first game against Indonesia's DKI Jakarta by 1-0 with a strike from their midfield power-house Fung Hing-wah.

In the second game, striker Fong Pak-lun scored a first-half goal against East Bengal of India which was disallowed. Things went from bad to worse when the Indian team took the chance to score while Fung, the scorer in the previous game, was lying injured on the ground. The team lost by 0-1.

Sham Shui Po played the host Singapore Sports School the next morning before their final match against group leader Assumption Thonburi of Thailand. Star striker Fong Pak-lun once again proved his ability by scoring a solo goal in the first half.

Unfortunately the host levelled the score from a lack of concentration of the Sham Shui Po players.
