The fourth annual adidas Superstar Camp was held in Shanghai last week, with 61 young basketball players from around Asia hoping to become the next Yao Ming .
The participants, aged 15 to 18, honed their basketball skills with help from NBA players during the four-day event.
Following the phenomenal success of Yao - who plays for the NBA's Houston Rockets - coaches and fans alike will be on the lookout for the next Asian superstar.
The camp kicked off last Tuesday with the region's up-and-coming stars showing off their shooting skills at the Shanghai Sports Academy.
'This is the fourth time that adidas has brought the Asian leg of the Superstar Camp to China,' said former NBA All-Star and adidas Superstar coach, Detlef Schrempf. 'The camp really shows just how important China is to the world of basketball. The game here is not just about Yao, it's about the future - a whole generation of players and fans ready and willing to embrace the game.'
To help Asia's brightest young stars achieve their potential, adidas lined up two of the NBA's finest young players - Adam Morrison of the Charlotte Bobcats and Martell Webster of the Portland Trail Blazers - to work with the participants this year.
Morrison and Webster had a glimpse of the Chinese people's passion for basketball when they visited the adidas NBA store in Shanghai last Friday.
