Thin is definitely in these days, as handset makers continue to trim the weight and bulk from their new models.

Following in the footsteps of Nokia's 6300, SonyEricsson has revealed its own wafer-thin model, the W880i.

At 9.4 millimetres thick, and weighing in at a feathery 71 grams, the candy-bar-like W880i is one of the slimmest, and arguably sleekest, models on the market today.

Like all the other 'W' phones from SonyEricsson, the W880i is a Walkman phone and comes with specialised software and sound features for listening to music on the go.

These include a full-featured media player that allows you to rewind, fast-forward, shuffle your library and create playlists directly on the phone, as well as the MegaBass feature, which enhances playback of the bass tones for better sound quality.

One neat trick is the TrackID application, an online service that will tell you which song you are listening to from snippets of recordings.
