1987: Graduated from Form Seven and found work as an aircraft engineer apprentice at the Hong Kong Aircraft Engineering Company (Haeco)

1991: Finished the high diploma course in aeronautical engineering at Hong Kong Polytechnic University

1992: Got the aircraft maintenance engineer license from the Civil Aviation Department (CAD)

1993: Got promoted to the post of senior supervisor at Haeco

1996: Became an aircraft maintenance engineer

2006: Became Head of Section

How to get there

Programme: Higher Diploma in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering

School: Institute of Vocational Education (Tsing Yi)

Duration: Three years

The course covers basic aerodynamics, aircraft maintenance and aviation legislation.

School: The Chinese University of Hong Kong

Duration: Three years

Characteristics: Students will learn state-of-the-art technologies in electronic engineering. Students can opt to take a year out to work in industry.

The path

After fulfilling all the requirements laid down by the CAD, graduates will become licensed aircraft maintenance personnel who may serve as certified engineers or technicians.

They can go on to find work in aircraft maintenance companies, airline companies, airfreight cargo operators or related organisations in the aviation industry.
