Queenie Dhody, the former Miss India, the style icon of Mumbai, and mother of two children is more than just a beauty and socialite. As a model-turned-jewellery designer, her jewellery has adorned some of the world's most famous people, including Hilary Clinton and the Moroccan queen.
She has also designed for such people as Miss Universe Lara Dutta and Indian actress Kiron Kher. Dhody (below) is in town for Call of the Peacock, a showcase of design from 25 female Indian designers.
'Hilary is extremely dynamic,' said Dhody, recalling her meeting with the former US first lady in New Delhi 18 months ago.
'She has a knowledge of everything,' she revealed. 'Even though she is such an important person, she is a good listener.'
Asked her secrets for staying young and charming and how she maintains her reputation as the most stylish woman of Mumbai, Dhody smiled and said, 'You have to work hard at it', and she stressed the importance of 'respecting your own body'.
The exhibition is from 10am to 7pm today at the Crystal Ballroom, Holiday Inn Golden Mile Hotel.
