The musical prodigy's interest in the guitar was sparked at the age of seven when he saw Jimi Hendrix play on TV. Shocked by the death of the guitar icon, the young boy started watching footage of Hendrix blasting the audience and soon devoted himself to the instrument.

When he was barely 20, he burst onto the scene with a jaw-dropping technique of fast harmonic minor riffing. His 1984 album, Yngwie J. Malmsteen's Rising Force, established the style known as neo-classical melodic rock - a combination of hard rock with classical elements such as music from Bach. Yngwie also writes all the songs for his band.

Now 43, his world tour has included Ireland, London, Paris, Vienna and Madrid. Tickets will be on sale from next Thursday through HK Ticketing.
