Sesha Skin Therapy was developed by a Taiwanese scientist and takes its name from the Putonghua word for 'hello'. Its manufacturer says it's a science-based, skin-care programme that aims to 'reveal beautiful skin by feeding and nourishing it'. The product's main feature is what's said to be a unique delivery system: permeation enhancement technology (Pet), which brings antioxidants, botanicals and vitamins to the skin's regenerative layers. Two of the products using this delivery system are skin-whitening creams, Cell White Fade Out Serum 10 and Cell White Fade Out Serum 15. Sesha also sells a Cell White Brightening Mask range that uses the same principal ingredient.

How are the products different from other lighteners?

They contain a whitening ingredient called arbutin, which studies show can decrease melanin production by 70 per cent and is 30 times more effective than Kojic acid (another whitener).

The molecules in most cosmetic ranges are so large that they stay on the skin's surface without having any long-term benefits. With Pet, the molecules are much smaller and penetrate deeper. According to the maker, clinical studies show that up to 350 per cent more vitamins can pass through the epidermis with this delivery system.
