Police officer killed in TST shooting

Last updated at 5.32pm: A patrolling police officer was killed and another critically wounded in Tsim Sha Tsui early on Friday during a shootout with a gunman ? who has also died.

All three were found lying unconscious with bullet wounds in a subway at the junction of Canton Road and Austin Road at 1.30am, police said.

One police officer, aged 33, and the gunman, were confirmed dead after being rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital. The policeman had received serious head injuries.

The other police officer, aged 28, had received injuries to his face and legs. On Friday afternoon, he remained in critical condition at the intensive care unit of the hospital.

Police Commissioner Dick Lee Ming-kwai told reporters that at least 10 bullets had been fired.

He revealed that police identity documents were found on the gunman.

?At this stage, we suspect the man could also be a police officer,? Mr Lee said.
