I've made some observations after attending my Senior Prom (graduation ball) recently.
We like to put ourselves in pain.
Arriving at my prom was in itself a painful experience. I wore a full suit with a pair of leather shoes that were slowly 'crushing' my heels. I thought this was the result of my lack of foresight.
I was wearing those shoes for the first time so my feet were bound to be covered with blisters.

I was wrong! Everyone was complaining about something: either their shoes were hurting their feet like mine, or their jackets were too hot or their ties were strangling them.
