With the Sars outbreak still fresh in the minds of many and avian flu spreading in Vietnam, consumers are becoming more concerned about their health.

But old-fashioned approaches to staying well, such as exercise and eating properly, are not good enough for some. Only a hi-tech solution will do.

Hong Kong Zhoulin BFS believes sales will rise this year as a stronger economy puts more money into the pockets of health-conscious consumers.

Zhoulin manufactures therapeutic devices aimed at balancing the body's 'bio-frequency spectrum', or the light, heat and magnetic field generated by the body.

The company claimed the machines could be used to treat ailments from asthma to cervical diseases. The five main functions are improving blood circulation, regulating the nervous system, strengthening the immune system, regulating internal secretions and correcting problems such as high or low blood pressure.

'In Europe, they love to use our products, so we expect to see the business grow,' marketing manager Suki Lee said.
