Motorola has updated its Microsoft Windows-based mobile phone, the MPx200. The latest incarnation, the MPx220, addresses many problems found on version one.

The clamshell mobile phone runs the Windows Mobile Smartphone operating system. Microsoft's Smartphone OS, unlike the PDA version, is a software so confusing and frustrating to navigate it makes the user feel like a minotaur lost in the labyrinth of meaningless menus and commands.

In terms of hardware, Motorola has listened to critics of the first phone and redesigned it to smooth out some of the rough edges.

The first thing to notice on the MPx220 is the redesigned navigation keys, which make it easier for one-handed operation.

But there is still no integrated keyboard, which means the keyboard has to be called up on screen. This is a pain because it defeats the purpose of making it easy to operate the phone with one hand.
