The family of a Chinese University professor who died after being hit as he tried to cross a road with his daughter is suing the driver.
In a High Court writ filed yesterday, Christine West and Bernard Arthur Wayne Critchley, administrators of Julian Arthur John Hall Critchley's estate, named Herbert Man Ho-fung as defendant.
They are seeking an undisclosed amount of damages.
The writ says Critchley died due to Mr Man's 'negligent driving' on July 13, 2001, at the Tai Chung Kiu Road junction with Siu Kek Yuen Road in Sha Tin.
At the time of the accident, it was reported that Critchley, 50, was hit as he dashed across a pedestrian crossing with his teenage daughter, then 18, and her friend.
Reports said it was raining heavily when the trio had got out of a taxi opposite City One Sha Tin, where he lived.
