If there is an award for the luckiest owner in Hong Kong, Peter Law Kin-sang would be a leading contender. And in the wake of yesterday's evidence, perhaps even favourite on some charts.

Law, well known through the deeds of his 2002-03 Horse of the Year Grand Delight, maintained his 100 per cent success rate with the John Size stable when his follow-up purchase, Great Delight, led throughout to win the final event on yesterday's card - the $1 million Lek Yuen Handicap.

Great Delight's price tumbled to $43.50 after the late scratching was ruled for second favourite Best Luck. But the non participation of Best Luck was a bonus for Great Delight players because the Sean Woods-trained horse would have been a rival for the lead. And in his absence, Shane Dye was able to give Great Delight an unchallenged picnic at the head of affairs.

'One of his hardest to beat was scratched at the mounting yard and then the other danger has missed the start, so you'd have to say it's given him all favours,' Size said later. 'This horse has never run a bad race. He's just taken a while to acclimatise and on a couple of occasions he hasn't appreciated rain-affected tracks. He's definitely a top-of-the-ground horse.'

Size acknowledged that having Law join his stable had been 'a bit of luck all round'.

'I've only had two horses for Mr Law - Grand Delight and this one,' Size said. 'Getting one as good as Grand Delight first-up makes it a hard act to follow, but this horse is pretty handy too. I think the big thing today was that he got his pet distance [1,400 metres] and a hard track.
