The public, including students, can nominate their favourite teachers for the Outstanding Educator Award (OEA) 2003, which is organised by the Hong Kong Institute of Education.

'I believe the winners can become role models for young teaching professionals,' said Dr Rosanna Wong Yick-ming, chairman of the OEA selection panel.

The OEA, which was launched in 2001, is held every two years to reward educators who have a strong track record in the development of local education.

The 2001 winner was Dr Angela Chiu Kwan-hung, a pioneer of early childhood education in Hong Kong.

'[The award] made me believe that I have taken the right direction in early childhood education,' said Dr Chiu.
