A programme starting next month aims to nurture the leadership skills of Form Seven and tertiary students, while raising their sense of responsibility towards society and enhancing their understanding of the mainland.
The Leaders of Tomorrow programme has as its theme an old Chinese saying - 'To cultivate oneself, put the family in order, govern a nation and bring peace to the Earth'. Led by the Hong Kong New Generation Cultural Association, the initiative is made up of two parts - leadership training and a mentorship programme.
The former will include a three-day, two-night, adventure-based camp, where public-speaking techniques will also be taught.
Besides the camp, there will be four talks and seminars on two topics - analysing the media and choosing a career.
The second part allows participants to share their experiences with their mentors.
A working youth will lead two students in the first phase of the mentorship programme. Well-known professionals such as Tai Keen-man, head of RTHK's corporate communications unit, and Paul Yip, chief of the Hong Kong Policy Research Institute, will be invited to be mentors during the second phase.
