For seven talented young musicians and dancers that dream came true when they received scholarships from Hong Kong Jockey Club Music and Dance Fund. Dancer Kwan Ho-ki said: 'I feel so lucky to be awarded a scholarship and very happy to study in the United Kingdom.'
The 23-year-old will take up a one-year MA in Performance at the London Contemporary Dance School.
Apart from dance performance and choreography, she will also take a minor course in anatomy, to learn about how dancers can easily move their muscles to perform more easily. 'Dancers should also pay attention to their health, so the physical knowledge is very important.' she said. 'I would like to return to Hong Kong to pursue a career in contemporary dance after completing the training.'
Another dancer, Kathy Ng Mei-kuen, has also been awarded a scholarship and will take up a four-year Bachelor of Chinese Folk Dance course at the Beijing Dance Institution.
Hedy Law Sin-yan, who has been awarded a music scholarship, will take a four-year residential doctorate degree in history and theory of music at the University of Chicago. The 25-year-old is expected to return to Hong Kong, after completing her studies, to teach music to undergraduates.
