Ag amebook that helps readers, especially teachers and students, discuss development issues in a fun way is now available. Gamebook - published by Oxfam Hong Kong (in Chinese only) - uses the idea of playing games to advocate a just world without poverty.
It includes a brief introduction to development issues as well as follow-up discussion questions.
Choi Yuk-yuk, senior publications officer at Oxfam Hong Kong, said: 'We published Gamebook with the aim of combatting poverty and letting people know about the issue. The book contains information that may not be found in textbooks. It is development education.'
Some teachers and students who have used Gamebook say the games are meaningful and help them learn about poverty.
Gamebook contains some 40 games based on 14 development issues, including food reservation, labour, the environment, women and children, the globalisation of business and natural hazards.
The book is in three parts. The first consists of warm-up games which can be played alone or in conjunction with themes from the second part.
