Shoulder pads, thick mascara, Anita Mui Yim-fong and, yes, those gravity-defying hairstyles. You are probably too young to know what we are talking about. But for those who survived the era - like disc jockeys Sammy and Siu-yee - the '80s still hold a special place in their hearts.

'The hip-hop culture and the fashion young people like today are similar to the 1980s. So the '80s culture is still relevant to us, and that is why we are staging a large-scale musical with an '80s theme,' said Sammy.

Organised by Coca-Cola and Commercial Radio 2, the theatre production Sammy and Siu-yee Performing Workshop - This Summer, This Moment features a host of local DJs including Sammy, Siu-yee, singers Edmond Leung Hon-man and Denise Ho Wan-see as well as students.

The music extravaganza, which will be staged at the Academic Community Hall, Baptist University on August 30 and 31, is a romantic comedy about four very different people who are accidentally trapped inside a lift.

'This is a challenge for me since I am used to working on radio shows. But a musical combines singing, dancing and acting on a stage,' said Siu-yee.

This Summer, This Moment is also a summer workshop for young people who are interested in acting, according to Sammy.
