What do you think of wushu? If you think it is only used for fighting or self-defence, you are wrong. To Angie Tsang, wushu is a sport that trains the mind, provides energy and fosters discipline. Although wushu can be used for combat, Tsang believes it is generally non-aggressive. After learning wushu for 10 years, Tsang has gained a good understanding of Chinese culture.
How long have you been learning wushu and how have you benefited from the sport?
I have been learning wushu for 11 years and I have benefited a lot from it. Wushu has not only kept me physically fit but has also helped me develop strong discipline and gain a better understanding of Chinese culture.
Before I learned wushu, I knew very little about Chinese culture and had few opportunities to visit the mainland.
Over the last 10 years, I have often visited the mainland and learned from my mainland counterparts. I have also learned to respect my coach. All this has helped my personal development and interpersonal relationships.
