Its acquisition by WPP Group has not affected the business strategy of public relations firm Burson-Marsteller, according to president and chief executive Chris Komisarjevsky.
Advertising giant WPP bought Burson-Marsteller's parent company, Young & Rubicam, in October for US$4.7 billion.
Other public relations companies controlled by WPP include Buchanan Communications, Hill & Knowlton and Ogilvy Public Relations.
Despite the acquisition, competition among these firms has remained aggressive, according to Mr Komisarjevsky. 'We have a clear philosophy of how we want to work together and how we want to compete.'
He said: 'If there is an opportunity to bring two or more of these companies together and it is in the best interest of the client, we will find the way to do that. But if different clients require different kinds of talent, we will compete with each other aggressively.'
Mr Komisarjevsky said that while Burson-Marsteller had not changed its business strategy since becoming a member of WPP, it had benefited from new connections.
