SGV showcases Filipino potential in a borderless world
Long before the business process outsourcing industry became a powerhouse for the Philippine economy, SGV & Co harnessed Filipino talent with a global mindset. Since its founding in 1946, the Philippines' largest and only ISO 9001-certified professional services firm has endeavoured to develop world-class professionals by delivering assurance, tax, transaction, and advisory solutions to local and foreign clients.
Last year, it came full circle with plans to expand its Asia-Pacific Talent Hub into a Global Talent Hub (GTH) as part of the Ernst & Young (EY) network.
"The Philippines' value proposition is really the people," says Cirilo Noel, chairman and managing partner. "In SGV, we're exposed to more than 5,000 clients across industries. So, you can imagine the depth and breadth of our people's experience."
The firm's partners and staff are among the country's best educated, with postgraduate degrees from institutions such as Harvard University, Kellogg School of Management and the London Business School. Today, 700 of SGV's 4,800 staff man the firm's offshoring operations and provide audit and advisory services to clients in the region.
Going beyond the region to become part of EY's global delivery network will mean serving a client base spanning more than 80 countries. Functioning within integrated global teams, GTH Manila will be involved in more complex services such as audit-based information technology system reviews, compliance with United States tax regulations, and accounting for financial instruments.
The operation provides multinational clients access to exceptional talent at competitive costs. Further, it allows SGV to offer Filipino professionals exposure to global engagements and international qualifications.
