Fire destroys top Bali hotel

JAKARTA: A major fire destroyed a luxury hotel on the tourist island of Bali but no fatalities were reported, police said.

Most of the 400 registered guests were out sightseeing when the blaze swept through the 10-storey Bali Beach Hotel. An Italian tourist had to be treated for shock, and a German tourist on the top floor of the five-star hotel wrapped herself in bed sheetsbefore making her way down the emergency fire escape.
