One jewel in ACSET's crown was its work on Pacific Place Jakarta - a mixed development of high-end shopping mall, hotel and apartments which the company completed from lower ground floor in 18 months.
Prior to ACSET's involvement in Pacific Place, the former project was affected by the Asian financial crisis and was abandoned with its four-level basement already in place.
For the new development, the client wanted to reorient the two apartment towers to north-south facing and build an eight-floor shopping mall on top of the existing structure and foundation. ACSET was contracted to underpin the existing foundation by installing additional bored piles, enlarge the pile caps and strengthen the structure on top of the main contract works.
"Most contractors can build foundation piles but not everyone can build and install piles on top of existing basement structures," says Ronnie Tan, president and CEO.
