The days are finally growing longer, temperatures are climbing and the glorious deep-blue summer skies have returned to Hong Kong. We are once again living in the sultry tropics, and interiors trends for the season are all about bringing those warm, balmy breezes indoors.

“Following on from fashion trends, the interior world is bursting with florals and botanical style,” says Hong Kong interior designer Lisa Clowes. “Seasonal motifs include flowers, fruit, foliage and fauna and these are being cleverly reworked to give a contemporary edge.”

Take, for instance, British boutique-brand House of Hackney’s 1970s-inspired Palmeral range of wallpaper, fabrics and furniture where white and black backgrounds are covered with vibrant green and turquoise palm leaves – fit for any jungle!

The design studio’s Hackney Empire range is equally on trend – yellow and white striped linen, black velvet or white cotton are covered with a carnival of colourful, cavorting animals; everything from frogs and badgers to parrots and possums.

The larger design houses are also embracing everything botanical, Osborn and Little’s latest collection, for instance, features flowers, butterflies, birds and plants in an abundance of hues and textures.
