Combining extensive local expertise with global reach provides companies an edge in an era dubbed the "Asian century" by economic and political experts.

Having cultivated a reputation as one of Australia's innovative asset management companies, Tyndall Investment Management (Tyndall AM) opens windows of opportunities for its local clients to actively participate in the dynamic developments in the world's fastest-growing economic region.

Tyndall AM built its name providing a comprehensive portfolio of fixed income, Australian equities and alternative assets to institutional and retail investors in Australia. Its scope of expertise increased even more significantly upon its acquisition by Nikko Asset Management (Nikko AM), as it gained access to the vast global network of one of Asia's largest asset management companies.

Bringing in its tried and tested knowledge of the local investment landscape, Tyndall AM also became instrumental in helping Nikko AM gain a stronger foothold in Australia, supporting the latter's mission as a leader in the Asian financial services industry.

"To integrate ourselves further into Nikko AM, we're building capabilities that are relevant to our Asian regional focus," says Mike Davis, managing director.

Tyndall AM has identified health, education and savings as key characteristics between Asian and Australian populations, and sees opportunities to develop products corresponding to these growth characteristics.

Leveraging the similarities between the markets, Tyndall AM aims to facilitate investment between Australia and the rest of Asia, providing a two-way flow. Just as Tyndall AM provides the pathway for Australian customers to invest in Asia, it can also leverage its capabilities in the local market to help prospective Asian customers expand their investment portfolio to include Australian funds.

"We want to bring Asia to the rest of the world and the rest of the world to Asia. To do this, we are on a journey to offer sophisticated, institutionally robust products," Davis says.
