By ensuring environmental sustainability with its soil treatment technology, Agraria has emerged as Brazil's leading crop fertiliser producer. The company is setting its sights on international expansion, exploring opportunities to bring its 34-year expertise in precision agriculture to Asia.

Agraria develops specific formulas that are applied to various kinds of soil to improve yields and minimise production costs. "We research continuously to mitigate production risks and improve our fertilisers," says Gustavo Branco, general manager of Agraria.

Through collaboration with universities and research institutions, Agraria enables growers to reap the benefits of nutrient-rich soils.

Among Agraria's innovations is the granulated fertiliser with each grain containing consistent amounts of micronutrients and compounds of nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium. This technology has been patented in Brazil and the United States.

The company offers customised fertiliser solutions, including the diagnosis of soil and crop production. "Every culture of crops has specific needs for nutrients from the soil. We use a global positioning system to guide us in identifying every square metre of land which needs definite applications," Branco says.

To accommodate growing demand for its products, AgrAria is opening a factory in Paraguay in July. The factory is projected to triple fertiliser production, which is set at 300,000 tonnes per year.
