Magic circles

The Pop range of products by French brand Kaloo adds a splash of colour to a child's room. Hard-wearing but soft, the rug is a riotous addition to a bedroom. The design of interlinking circles in all the shades of the rainbow is likely to appeal to most children. HK$1,650 at Kaloo, Shop 304, 3/F Prince's Building, Central, tel: 2522 7770

Scrumptious cuts

A range of sandwich cutters new in Hong Kong are already a hit among children in their native Australia. A mum devised the Lunch Punch sandwich cutters, hoping to encourage her children to eat more than one bite. The cutters are tall enough to slice through a double layer of bread and thicker. They come in four sets depicting vehicles, critters, puzzles and fairytale-inspired shapes. Each set comprises four shapes and as many colours - blue, red, green and purple. HK$160 at tickitey-boo.com

Get it sorted

Designed for toddlers getting to grips with fine motor skill movements, this wooden shape sorter contains 10 chunky shapes easy for little hands to hold. Feeling the shapes helps toddlers learn their differences; and by putting them in the right holes they develop problem-solving skills. The shape sorter contains a lid with a corner key that twists open, giving little hands another challenge to practise and master.
