Porsche Design Group chief executive Juergen Gessler flew from Germany to greet dozens of guests in the 1,590 sq ft store on Queen's Road Central.

'Hong Kong is Asia's luxury hub. We opened our first store at Ocean Centre. This time we're bringing Porsche Design right to the centre of Hong Kong,' Gessler said.

'Does anyone have a black watch on their wrist?' he asked the crowd, before telling a story about Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, the late Porsche designer, whose revolutionary watch design was a favourite with Apple co-founder Steve Jobs.

'Look at the back of the iMac and MacBook, I believe the watch's titanium construction might have actually inspired Mr Jobs.'
