Marvel creator Stan Lee recently unveiled a brand new superhero inspired by Chinese pop star G.E.M.

This new female character, Jewel, is a world-touring pop star by day and an ass-kicking superhero by night. She developed her superpowers after a mysterious incident involving her grandmother and a charm bracelet. But given her alter ego as a celebrity, she has to learn to hide her powers as well as juggle a life in the public eye.
The new superhero was revealed by Stan Lee’s POW! Entertainment, which Stan Lee co-founded, during the first Stan Lee Comic Universe event in Shanghai earlier last week.
For those who are unfamiliar with G.E.M., she’s known as China’s Taylor Swift, given her strong songwriting skills and massive following on social media. But sonically, the 27-year-old sounds more like the Ariana Grande of China -- a powerful vocalist who excels at both pop and R&B.

The official Weibo account for Stan Lee Studio said he’d had always wanted to create a Chinese superhero and Lee’s previous encounter with G.E.M. has inspired him. Lee’s studio said more details on Jewel and her superpowers will be introduced later on.
